We are delighted to announce the launch of our new interactive education and careers web pages, ‘Geology Career Pathways.’ 

Produced in partnership with University Geoscience UK and aimed at GCSE-level upwards, the new site offers an in-depth and uniquely tailored guide to a range of studying options and the diverse array of careers in geology.

‘We’re so excited to be launching this amazing new resource’ says Geological Society Executive Secretary Sarah Fray. ‘We believe Geology Career Pathways is one of the most detailed and comprehensive websites of its kind. We have striven to make it as interactive and user-friendly as possible, and hope it will be a useful and inspiring guide to anyone considering studying geology.’

The site features an overview of the range of specialisms which geology encompasses, and the careers that are available. There are also detailed resources for those considering University study, including sample course structures, tips on writing a successful personal statement and advice on the UCAS process – all tailored towards geology degrees.

‘We’ve tried to anticipate the questions that prospective students may ask’ says Sarah, ‘including information on the various courses on offer, funding opportunities, postgraduate study options and fieldwork and mapping projects.’

Compatible with most web browsers and mobile devices, the site also includes a range of careers information, including video profiles, salary guidance and advice on continuing professional development.

‘Geology graduates continue to enjoy incredibly exciting opportunities around the globe, as well as having the opportunity to study a fascinating and rewarding science’ says Sarah. ‘We hope current and prospective students, as well as anyone interested in finding out more about where geology can take them, will enjoy exploring this new resource.’
